Book Review: Snapped

Snapped is a short story by Alice Clair, written based on the realistic states of love. It's absolutely relatable - I got emotional from reading it, and I'm sure most of you will too.

It's a four-minute read, so I hope all of you can spare the time to read it. To keep it short, the story is about a girl and a boy - the girl is trying to hard for him to hate her, but in the end she realizes that there's no way for him to do so. And it's impossible for her to continue hating him.

Each SNAP changes the story's point of view, so what the reader finds out is that both of them are thinking the same thoughts.

Please do go read it! c:

NaNoWriMo & YoungWritersProgram

Have you guys signed up yet? NaNoWriMo and YWP are about to start in approximately seven days. It's a great opportunity to write your favorite project, because the goal of it is to push yourself to write 50k words. You don't even need to finish your novel.
And if you do happen to achieve your goal, then you have the satisfaction of winning. c:

I did YWP last year, but I didn't finish it because there wasn't much time for me to do so.

This year, my school coincidentally offered us a two week break, so I've got faith that I can write more. ;D

Have you guys planned yet? I know I worked for two days to figure out my story plot.

Wishing you all good luck,

Hey youuu!

I've recently made a Figment account, so if by coincidence you have one too, it'd be great if you followed me - or simply comment with your Figment screenname and I'll check your projects out.

Thanks! :D

Foxen is just another story that I've recently posted on Inkpop, but just in case any of you were ever curious -

"Arkid’s mind was still confused until Lartios took out the ideal thing for disaster. “Wait, is this a-“ It was too late. Lartios struck the match against the side of the box, and they both witnessed the beautiful glow of the flame light up. Lartios laughed, almost a cackle, as he carefully connected the flame with their gadget. The flame traveled into the chute that choked smoke for a few moments, but then cleared up, and soon she was ready to go. Arkid could feel the terror of realization in him rising up; he could feel how guilty he was for doing this, even if he didn’t know what he was doing. The cannon rumbled menacingly, and Lartios cackled again. Arkid covered his ears with his hands, ready for the worst, and watched in pure horror as the metal monster they’d just put together soared up in the air and charged for the building. He watched as it crashed into the building, creating a great explosion. The flames, from just a tiny match lighted one, now was a big, disastrous fire. The orange and red that danced in the air, mocking Arkid of how na├»ve he was, simply made him even more furious. Arkid roared; he had enough of this inhumane act."  -- excerpt from Foxen.

War Zone

Lights flash,
You’re nowhere to be seen.
Shadows cast,
I can’t find out where you’ve been.
Lightning struck,
There’s danger everywhere,
Water roaring, flames are burning-
This is it.

So just run and hide!
You have nothing to be afraid of now.
So just run and hide!
We’ll escape this chaotic town.
Because this is war,
This is a war zone, woah.

So are you scared?
By now I'd expect you to be.
So will you come,
And find me where I am?
And if you do,
It'll start all over again.

So just run and hide!
You have nothing to be afraid of now.
So just run and hide!
We’ll escape this chaotic town.
Because this is war,
This is a war zone, woah.

4. Dark

- Prequel to Light -

The uncomfortable dampness of this cave made my skin crawl.
Three reasons for it.
First of all, I was having constant illusions of flashing shadows.
Second of all, I kept hearing faint screams in the distance. Perhaps they were simply part of my hallucinations.
I couldn't be sure.

I was down on my all fours, eyes searching the narrow, dry path ahead of me. Besides the path, everything else was wet.
Even in the darkness, I could see tiny bugs scrambling up the rocks, antennae twitching every so often.
I hate bugs.
I hate getting lost.

I hate darkness.

3. Light

My fingertips lightly traced the damp walls, occasionally coming in contact with wet moss. I wrinkled my nose in disgust, but unless I get out of here, there was no way of getting rid of the horrible environment around me.
A distance away, there was a tap, dripping slowly. I could hear every drop landing on the ground.
I could hear everything, for other than that, there was nothing but the deafening silence.
The cave I was in was small, but there was sharp stones and rocks sticking out everywhere.
Every step had to be careful.

Straining my eyes to look further up ahead, I thought I saw a small glow.
It was faint.
But definitely light.

Hope lifted my heart. Was I really that close to my exit? Was I really going to get out of here? That soon?

I burst into a grin, and energy rushed back into me.
My legs started moving, bolting into a speedy run.

2. Love

She couldn't see his eyes.
He stared down at the floor, hands clasped together.
The girl chewed on her bottom lip nervously. Was he really that uncomfortable around her? She resisted the tears that threatened to burst out; she couldn't cry in front of him. Not in front of him. Anywhere but in front of him.
"Ashleigh..." He started softly.
"Yes?" She quickly replied. Anxiety was taking over her now.
"I just wanted to say-"
"That you hate me? That you don't like me? That I'm ugly and annoying and incredibly stupid?" She burst. She was self-conscious. She knew that was who she was.
"No..." He lifted his head now, and Ashleigh pushed back the temptation to sigh dreamily. Those adorable blue eyes that seemed to shine in the light every time amazed her. Mesmerized her. Perhaps that was what hypnotized her whenever they were around each other.
Oh, and with the bonus of his beautiful voice.
"No, I wasn't going to say that." His voice was firm. "I was going to say that I love you, that I do like you, that you're pretty and kind and incredibly intelligent."
"Y-you... love me?" A gasp escaped her. She wasn't expecting that.

"Yeah, I do. And do you love me back?" Back to his alluring tone again. Oh god.
A wide smile spread across her face, something that glittered with hope and admiration. "Yes."

Here goes my first;

The wind blew in my face, accompanied by dust. Stray strands of hair flew everywhere, but I didn't bother to brush it back neatly. No, I didn't want to. All I wanted to do was to feel the wind.
The breeze was warm, despite the cold weather winter had brought us. The sun, hiding behind patches of clouds, was barely shining, but I didn't feel the slightest chill in my bones at all.

A smile stretched across my face as I squinted up at the sky.
It was the start of something new.

So I've been working on this pretty cool story recently [it's not yet public on inkpop] and it's called Hyper[active] Identities. I really hope people are gonna like it...

Anyway, I made the cover for it!

How do you like it? ;D

Descriptive Scenes & More

Close your eyes and imagine it as if it were a movie. Then write it down/type it up. It's easier that way.

Hello, world!
I haven't been updating recently- and I apologise deeply for that. Christmas was a very busy holiday [I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that] but now I'm back! And I'll try to post more often.
So what's been happening so far in your lives of 2011?
I, for one, have been spamming my brain with the awesomness of Charlie McDonnell [aka charlieissocoollike]! I just love his accent. Don't you just love his accent? I love English accents(:

It's my solemn promise that I will try to update Down To Earth, but since I've been set a tight schedule by my parents, I haven't got much time to go on the computer.

Well, maybe at school I will.
What a bad girl I am. x]

Till next time!
